What It Takes to Make a Home

Vom 21. bis 23. Oktober zeigt feldfünf tagsüber innen und abends außen den neuen Dokumentarfilm des Canadian Centre for Architecture (CCA), What It Takes to Make a Home. Anhand von zwei Architekturprojekten in den Städten Wien und Los Angeles untersucht der Film Möglichkeiten von Architektur im Umgang mit Obdachlosigkeit. Dazu werden Perspektiven Betroffener sowie der beiden Architekten, Alexander Hagner (Wien) und Michael Maltzan (Los Angeles), die sich mit ihrer Arbeit seit Jahren diesem Thema widmen, vorgestellt.

Am Abend des 22. Oktober werden wir im Anschluss an die Filmvorführung gemeinsam mit verschiedenen Expert*innen Fragen zur Rolle der Architektur in einem verantwortungsvollen und inklusiven Umgang mit Stadtraum diskutieren.

Aufgrund der COVID-19-Einschränkungen ist die Veranstaltungsgröße begrenzt. Wir werden jedoch für alle, die nicht teilnehmen können die Diskussion als Tonspur aufnehmen. Diese kann ab dem Folgetag (Freitag, 23.10.20) nachgehört werden. Die Veranstaltung findet in deutscher sowie in englischer Sprache statt.

What It Takes to Make a Home

From October 21 to 23, feldfünf e.V, hosts a public screening of the documentary short film, What It Takes to Make a Home (2019, 29 min, OV English) and invites to a discussion on related questions of housing, and the potential for a responsive and responsible architecture in our communities.

What It Takes to Make a Home the first in a three-part film exploration of intersecting social conditions that are reconfiguring contemporary cities. The film is produced by the Canadian Centre for Architecture (CCA), conceived by Giovanna Borasi and directed by Daniel Schwartz. The film considers architectural responses to homelessness within two cities, Los Angeles and Vienna, from the perspective of unhoused populations and two corresponding architects whose work directly engages these issues: Michael Maltzan (Los Angeles) and Alexander Hagner (Vienna).
