Deutscher Städtebaupreis 2020

The Neighborhood at the Former Blumengroßmarkt in Berlin-Kreuzberg is the Winner of the Deutscher Städtebaupreis 2020!

In this 40th anniversary year, a particularly large number of projects were submitted to the competition for urban development culture, with 81 applications and 58 for the special prize.

The Berlin project has a model character and is exemplary for

“co-creative urban redevelopment that focuses on living and working together and pursues long-term sustainable development strategies in the neighborhood (…).

The project is an incentive for a positive social and economic development of the very heterogeneous area, which has been disadvantaged for many years. Through its complexity, its social qualities and its opportunities, it contributes to the strengthening of social cohesion at Südliche Friedrichstadt,” as the jury chairman Prof. Dr. Christina Simon-Philipp, HFT Stuttgart, emphasized.

We are very pleased about this special appreciation of the neighborhood and the METROPOLENHAUS with its Active Ground Floor as part of the project.

To the project film and to the project description + jury statement.
