OPENING | Shifting Relations – final theses of the Department of Visual Communication at the Weißensee academy of art berlin

From 19 to 21 July, the Department of Visual Communication at the weißensee school of art will be celebrating the graduation of its graduates with the exhibition “Shifting Relations” at feldfünf.
Visual communication is a social discipline. It creates relationships. Individual signs become sentences. Drawings, organised in a panel, are a story. A grid becomes a picture. However, visual communication is not only aimed at the visible. Ideally, digital communication is also a tactile experience – despite the screens. Moving images work better with sound. A room tells a story. To whom? To the viewer. To the audience. Those whom we want to captivate with a story, to whom we want to visualise the world. Those to whom we give signs so that they can find their way. In the underground. In global networks. In politics.
“Shifting Relations” marks the step by which 27 visual communication students at the weißensee academy of art berlin become colleagues. Was bedeutet das? Wir werden weiterhin nicht immer einer Meinung sein. Wir werden uns weiterhin herausfordern. In einer sich wandelnden Beziehung.
