The nine jury members will meet on Monday and Tuesday: 2022 product designer Werner Aisslinger, communication designer Prof. em. Anna Berkenbusch, Andreas Detzel, Managing Director at ifeu Heidelberg, product designer Prof. Matthias Held, Dr. Bettina Hoffmann, Parliamentary State Secretary at the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection, designer Prof. em. Günter Horntrich, the architect and director of the Basel University of Art and Design Prof. Dr. Claudia Perren, Dr. Bettina Rechenberg, head of Department III “Sustainable Products and Production, Circular Economy” at the Federal Environment Agency, the fashion designer Prof. Friederike von Wedel-Parlow. During the two-day session, the jury will determine both the nominated and award-winning projects. Several prizes can be awarded in each category, which are to be understood as equal. The award winners will be announced at the award ceremony at the Federal Ministry for Environment. Outstanding design, environmentally compatible and forward-looking – these are the most important criteria when nominating products and concepts for the Bundespreis Ecodesign.

In a large exhibition, organized and designed by Internationales Designzentrum Berlin, the approximately 140 submissions, which were pre-selected by experts from all entries, will be presented. The exhibition will be opened on Sept 30, 2022 at 6:00 pm and is then open daily until Oct 10, 2022 for interested people. The accompanying program will focus on repairing instead of creating.
