Wenn nicht jetzt – wann dann? Weibliche Perspektiven inklusiver Stadtentwicklung | Symposium | Women in Architecture 2021

If not now - when? Female perspectives of inclusive urban development | Symposium | Women in Architecture 2021
On 19 June, 2021, from 12 pm to 7 pm in feldfünf and online

"I am the essence of change"- this is not only true for the city, society and the architectural parameters of building, but also for the role and meaning of female architects in the professional context.
Would our cities look different if young architects were naturally part of a diverse planning culture?

The actors question what is missing from the built environment from a feminist perspective and how a cultural change in planning could affect cities. What qualities should be protected or newly created so that the big city remains or becomes livable and vibrant? What could scenarios and strategies look like in which a wide variety of needs of the inhabitants of this city are taken into account in future developments? How do we get the most diverse actors together to develop a language for the common good that unites investment interests, public administration, and city actors in new alliances for a common design goal?

Guests will discuss the challenges for cities in these times, prototypical solutions for reactivating existing architecture - and what kind of processes will be needed to rethink cities and neighborhoods. The act of listening as a political practice provides insight into a variety of perspectives through which norms and standards in architecture are examined.

With the aim of making society and stakeholders in the building industry aware of the relevance of our planning with regard to the climate and biodiversity crisis, the actors question current images of service, working with outdated standards and structural gender discrimination, hoping not only to create impulses that can subsequently have an impact, but also to specifically network planners who can mutually reinforce each other and find new solutions together.
